We’ve all heard the classic money advice that tells you to cut out all unnecessary spending.
Cancel your gym membership. Stop buying lattes. Cook all your meals at home.
But we reject that mindset — and we think you should too.
Sure, spending mindlessly can get you into trouble. But intentional spending? That’s what makes life feel good.
That’s why this week, we’re talking about the things we gladly splurge on — the little luxuries that make us feel like we’re living the high life. 💅
✨ The Difference Between a Splurge & Reckless Spending
Before you come for us in the comments — no, we’re not saying you should just throw financial responsibility out the window.
There’s a difference between intentional splurging and reckless spending:
✔️ A good splurge: Something you’ve thought about, prioritized, and genuinely love.
❌ Reckless spending: Impulse buys you regret later (hi, random Amazon purchases).
🛍️ The Things We Gladly Splurge On
💼 Business retreats – Sound bougie? Maybe. But these trips have transformed our careers and introduced us to people who’ve changed our lives.
🏡 Housing in a high-cost-of-living city – We could live somewhere cheaper. But for us, the quality of life, community, and opportunities make it worth the price tag.
🛋️ House cleaning services – If you love cleaning, cool. But for Cassidy, paying someone once a month = less stress, more time, & a cleaner home.
📚 Books, books, books – Library lovers, don’t come for Emily. But sometimes, she just wants to own a book, annotate it, and keep it forever.
💎 High-quality jewelry – If you wear it daily, why not invest in something that doesn’t turn your skin green?
🍽️ Meal kits – Are they cheaper than cooking? No. But when life gets busy, they keep Cassidy from ordering takeout three times a week.
🌎 Handmade, local, & independent art – We’d rather buy one $50 handmade mug than ten $5 IKEA mugs.
What’s a splurge that makes you feel rich?
